Day 3

After introducing the program, procedures and materials to the students earlier this week, we were ready to get
started. We incorporated the iPods and literature books into our time together today. After many
hours of preparation and recording, the iPods were ready to be utilized.

The routine is being discovered as we experience the true timing in these first initial days. Since we will
have about 40 minutes together, this is what our schedule is going to be like.

Listening to Literacy Grow Routine:

1 Minute- Travel Time to Library
2 Minutes- Select Book and iPod
1 Minute - Find a place to listen and get settled.
1 Minute - Locate the Audiobook Title, Chapter or where they left off to begin reading along.
20 Minutes- Read & Listen independently while following along with the words in the book.
2 Minutes- Use sanitizing wipes to clean iPod materials and place back in ziplock bag.
10-12 Min.-   Literature Discussion using Listening to Literacy Grow prompt cards.
1 Minute- Walk back.

Students focus and full use of the literature books to follow along with the
audiobook on the iPod:

Selection of next chapter while following along
to the audiobook:

I hope to incorporate some testimonials from the students as we progress. I walked away
from this morning very impressed with their ability to follow the rules, be on task, truly enjoy
the experience of audiobooks on the iPod's, communicate with each other in a discussion group
their materials read, and most importantly enjoy the Listening to Literacy Grow program.

Please be sure to leave your comments. I know that with your continued commenting and
communication/feedback, I can make the Listening to Literacy Grow program even better!
